It’s winter and people are cold

People were cold – we can’t have that (kidding – they were warm but it adds to the mystery).  Here’s what I made for Mom.  The yarn is Yarn Bee Soft Delight Extremes – the color is EX brown.  This is NICE yarn.  It is double-stranded with Regia loden sock yarn.  Maybe you can’t tell from the picture, but it is a keyhole scarf and a pair of fingerless gloves – very luxurious.

This hat and gaiter set was made for Dad.  The hat is double thick and reversible.  The camo yarn is Red Heart (ickkkkkkkkk) and the other yarn is I Love This Yarn (and I do) – the color is coffee.

For Aunt Betty, I crocheted a scarf with the Yarn Bee Soft Delight Extremes – again EX brown – the second strand was Simply Soft – a pretty dusty rose color – unsure of the technical color name.

Baby baby – you’re a star

This blanket was made for the new star of the family – the upcoming grandchild (or son or daughter or niece or nephew or great-grandchild depending on who you talk to).  The yarn is Bernat Softee Baby.

Here’s a close-up of the little labels tied on with ribbon…

Danielle loves all things stars hence the star blanket.  I was working on the blanket and Justin asked how to crochet.  I had him make a double crochet and then we thought how cool if each of us crocheted a stitch for this child…so we did.  Corey and Danielle loved it.  Danielle said she doesn’t want to take the labels off.

Baby sweater – yay!

This is my first knit baby sweater.  I’ve done plenty of crocheted ones for charity, but with our first grandbaby on the way, I always knew this would be the push I needed to get past my fear.  As I am my own worst critic, I know it’s boxy and not perfect but I feel I need to post it anyway just because it’s my first.  The upside is……………this was fun…this was easy.  This one has been donated to a charity.

The green yarn is just a ball of something from my stash and the white is Bernat Softee Baby.

The wedding purse………..

wedding purseSomehow I forgot to post this picture when I finished this project.  This was the purse I knitted for Danielle for their wedding.  She loved it.  The yarn is Sinfonia mercerized cotton and the pattern is from Knitting the Easy Way by Terry Kimbrough.  I have the book with the blue cover but mostly I only see the book with the red cover – I’m unsure if both books have this pattern.  There are two Beaded Wedding Purses in the book.  Mine is adapted from the “traditional version”.  It was a fun knit.

Inside of the purse, Mark and I put a picture of Corey as a baby.  Mark wrote a sweet little poem.  I’ll have to attach that to this post later.

Socks for Mark and me (or is it I?? or is it myself?? – hmmmm) (Pairs #34-36)

socks-x-3These three pair took forever to make.  The red, white and blue pair – oh did I dislike that yarn.  Until I told myself ok, they’ll be my 4th of July patriotic socks, I just dreaded working on them.  After that, it was smooth sailing.  The middle pair are for Mark .  They were ok to work on except the solid color got a little boring but that’s because I love working with the self-patterning so much.  The other pair – oh my – they were my biggest sock disappointment to date.  They are Paton’s Kroy.  It worked up beautifully.  The pattern is the fluted banister pattern that I’ve always wanted to try and is actually brainless knitting and they turned out beautiful – until I washed and blocked them.  They lost some of their brilliant color and felted just a bit.  We’ll see how they wear but again, disappointed.

Helpful hint – don’t walk away from a photo shoot with cats in the house who adore and covet wool.

Corey, the foot model (Pair #32)

corey-camoDoesn’t Corey make a lovely foot model?  These are Corey’s newest socks, although these are from March 6, so I’m wayyyyyy behind on posting.  The socks Corey got for Christmas were not a perfect fit so I made him these to his specifications (mental note – Sock Wizard doesn’t work for everybody).
