Danielle and I store our crochet hooks in these baby wipe containers. Since they match and we usually sit together when we crochet, we asked Corey to make us labels that say “Danielle” and “Teri”. He took it one beautiful step farther………..

Happy 49!!!
Happy birthday to me!!! Danielle organized a surprise 49th birthday party for me. Boy was I surprised!!! Corey made me a beautiful table. I am so much in love with that table. He also painted an old milk can I had. They had balloons in it. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten balloons so it was really cool. My favorite little buddy helped blow out my candles – with some help from his Daddy. Here are some pics from the party…………
Do you believe??????
Do you believe in Santa Claus? We do……..
I made that wall hanging many many years ago, when my kids were young. They are now adults with families of their own. I’ve wanted to update it for a couple of years and when my daughter-in-law jokingly said I needed to add some stockings, I knew this was the year I needed to complete that task. Danielle…………I love you and here you go………
Boo!
Boo! That’s the color name of the I Love This Yarn used to make Zach’s latest sleepsack……….
For the record, I also knit him the cute little pumpkin hat he’s wearing using this pattern. I found a leaf pattern somewhere on the internet and added the leaf. There is a leaf pattern linked within the pumpkin hat pattern, but I chose a different leaf – use whatever leaf pattern you like.
For the sleepsack, here’s the pattern I used – I created this pattern after reviewing lots of options and consulting with Danielle on what she and I thought would work best for Zach. She loves this design.
Yarn weight: Worsted
Needle size: Whatever you like to use for worsted – use magic loop, dpn’s, whatever you like. I use size 8 and magic loop.
Directions: Cast on 80 stitches (I cast on with two needles to make it looser and stretchier).
Join in a circle being careful not to twist stitches – you will be knitting in the round.
Rib for two inches – I use a k2 p2 but you can use whatever ribbing you prefer.
Switch to stockinette and knit until desired length.
For Zach, I knit a 12 inch total length (including ribbing) for newborn…………
15 inch total length (including ribbing) for up to three months……………
and 18 inch total length (including ribbing) for his Boo! sleepsack. He was twelve weeks old when I made the Boo! sleepsack so it lasted him awhile.
Kitchener the bottom closed. Don’t fear the kitchener!!!
Then………….make an I-cord. I use this…………..
and my I-cords are 30-40 inches long, depending on the size of the sleepsack. I must give credit to Danielle – she was my I-cord maker on the sleepsacks I’ve made. Weave the I-cord into the ribbed section and tie into a bow. Perfection! We didn’t use the I-cord for his largest size (Boo!) because he was more mobile and we were worried about him getting tangled in it. The sleepsack still worked great without the I-cord.
For Zach, this pattern is perfection. I hope it’s great for your baby, grandbaby, niece, nephew……….whoever you want to knit a cool gift for. Enjoy!
No brainer
I made Zach a bib. It was a no brainer – reminiscent of making t-shirts for my boys when they were kids. Ribbing is easy – this pattern is easy http://blisstree.com/live/free-pattern-to-sew-your-own-crew-neck-over-the-head-baby-bib/. I used a microfiber towel from the dollar store and the ribbing was on the clearance table at Joann’s, so this bib costed no more than $1.25 and is much better than a store-bought bib – and much bigger to cover more of the baby.
Here are all the blurry pictures. Zachary is almost always in motion so these are the best we could do.
Corey is a sweetheart
Here is a rose Corey picked for me from their back yard. He wrapped it in wet paper towel and foil and gave it to me to take home – this was on Danielle’s first day back to work and I watched Zach while she was at work……….very special when my son gives me flowers.
That was nine days ago – it’s still beautiful today – I just took this pic…………..
A beautiful morning walk
It’s hotter than heck and I like to take a walk 5-6 days per week. Keith suggested the obvious when I was complaining about how hot it was when I take my walks………….walk earlier in the morning. I used to do that but now I enjoy laying in bed longer. Today may have reverted me back to my old ways. I LOVED my early morning walk. The weather was still hot and humid but much cooler than walking at 9 a.m. or noon or whenever the mood would strike me. I had shade from the big arborvitaes on one side of my track (our walking track is .19 miles per lap). The big payoff was the beautiful dew hanging off the fence wires, arborvitaes, grass, spider webs – just a beautiful morning.
Here’s our a pic of our house and shed from the back of the track………
…………here’s the beauty looking back toward the woods………….
…………and a gorgeous spiderweb (why do spiders freak me out but the webs are gorgeous???)………..
McAmish
There are no pictures in this post. That’s out of the norm for me. However, Mark and I decided this weekend that we are McAmish (McDermott and Amish). We helped Don and Amy work on their new house on Saturday (so did Corey, Danielle and Zach). We think that’s how life should be – just like the Amish – people helping people with no thought of getting anything in return. Sure, the Amish get paid for whatever they do by way of jobs – some work in factories, or handcraft furniture, or sell their produce……….but…………..as a community, they help each other.
Why can’t everybody just help everybody and not expect something in return, like when the Amish help each other with a barn raising, for instance. Wouldn’t this world rock more than it already does?
Just thinking…………
Happy Zach-iversary!
Zach spent his first night at our house on our 27th anniversary. He doesn’t look happy in this pic but that was just one moment in time. Check out his sleeper. That’s the sleeper Corey wore home from the hospital when he was born almost twenty-five years ago. Danielle sent two sleepers and I asked Mark which one we should put on him after his bath and Mark said “Corey’s”, so Corey’s sleeper it was.
We had a great night other than he likes to be held instead of sleeping in his bed. That’s fine – I told Danielle we need to stop saying he’s spoiled (even though he totally is) and from now on we say he’s just very loved. Nothing wrong with that.
He had mirror time in the bathroom with Grandpa Mark………..
He had a bath in the big boy bathtub…………
He had cuddle time with Grandma Teri…………
Great Grandma Carol came over in the morning to visit and brought him a teddy bear as big as he is………….
Great Grandma Carol had the teddy bear watch over Zach as he slept – sweetness………..
